When Americans are denied access to life-changing medications, it isn’t abstract—or political—for me. It’s personal.

At Andel, we’re connecting people to the medicines they need at a price we can all afford.

My father was a cardiothoracic surgeon who invented the intra-aortic balloon pump, an innovation that transformed cardiac care and saved countless lives. And yet, he died young from an obesity-related illness.
Today, we have the science. We have medications that can meaningfully treat obesity. But far too many people still can’t access them—and people die every day because of it. The deeper I looked into the system, the more frustrated—and motivated—I became.
That’s why, after more than 20 years as an entrepreneur, and after founding and selling four companies, I was ready to take on something bigger. Something many people said was impossible. I started Andel to fix how brand-name drugs are priced and distributed in America—so patients can actually get the treatments they need.
For decades, the system has rewarded treating disease after it appears, because that’s when insurance pays. But the future of healthcare is prevention: taking medications not as a sign of sickness, but to stay healthy in the first place. Andel is building a simple service—designed like a subscription—that connects people to the medicines they need at a price we can all afford.
In many ways, Andel allows me to finish the work my father started.

Break down barriers
No one should go without medication they need. We work tirelessly to remove the barriers that prevent access so that more people can lead healthier, happier, longer lives. This isn’t a job. It’s a calling.

When you’re working at the frontier, there’s no map. So we value out-of-the-box thinking, bold originality, and fresh perspectives. By exploring what seems impossible today, we discover what will one day seem obvious.

Bring your all
It’ll take everything we’ve got to change a system as entrenched as healthcare. There’s no room for bystanders — we pull our own weight and push each other forward. Don’t have an answer? Figure it out. Can’t do something? Learn it. And when someone needs a hand, step up.

Remember the reason
It’s not about money. It’s about people — our customers, our teammates, and patients. If we lose sight of that, we lose what makes us different. At the end of the day, everything we do should pass a simple test: are we making their lives better?
